Hope Haven Children's Home<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Hope Haven is the only children’s shelter on the island housing abused, neglected, or orphaned children. We provide a safe healing space for children in our care where they can begin to flourish and move past their trauma. Each child is enrolled in school and has a learning coach to help them meet their education goals. Additionally, our facility engages children in mental health services that include talk therapy, play therapy, and restorative justice methods that teach our children how to cope with anger and depression.<\/p>

Since the official opening of the children’s home, over 100 children have received care at Hope Haven. These children have stayed in our care for weeks to months to years at a time. Most transition into loving homes or are reunited with families. Our home has ten full-time resident children, each with unique rehabilitation goals that include a broad spectrum of needs, from toddler potty training to independent living for older teenagers.<\/p>

Our children have face unspeakable violence and assault when they arrive and our goals are to validate them, embrace them and help them to bloom for the time they are in our home.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Hope Haven's Transitional Home<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

At Hope Haven, we recognize the critical importance of preparing our girls for life beyond the care system. To support this transition, we are developing a dedicated transitional home. This new facility will be a safe and nurturing environment where girls aged 16 and over can gradually step into adulthood. While continuing their education and beginning to work, they will learn essential life skills such as budgeting, cooking, and time management, all within a supportive community. Although the home is still undergoing renovations, it represents our commitment to empowering our young women with the tools they need to lead independent and successful lives.<\/p>

Learning Center <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Hope Haven\u2019s Learning Center is dedicated to bridging the educational gap for children in our community who face barriers to traditional schooling. Serving children from pre-school age up to 13 years old, our center offers a free and supportive environment where children can engage in essential literacy and numeracy skills.<\/p>

We provide all necessary materials and snacks to ensure that no child is excluded due to financial constraints. Initially funded by UNICEF, our learning center was established to support the 85 children who were out of school, and we continue to seek funding to keep this crucial service available. Our curriculum aligns with the Ministry of Education\u2019s syllabus, and we celebrate all major holidays, fostering a sense of belonging and community among the children we serve.<\/p>

Hope Haven’s Women Empowerment Programs are dedicated to uplifting women in our community by providin<\/div>
them with the skills, resources, and support they need to achieve independence and self-sufficiency. We offer a variety of classes, including financial literacy, budgeting, and event decorating, all led by inspiring women from our community. We also educate women about domestic violence and their rights as spouses through our domestic violence outreach center, where they are encouraged to seek professional help via the Women’s Department, Human Services Department, or the Police Department.<\/div>

In partnership with the Embassy of Taiwan in Belize and the British High Commission in Belize, we facilitate programs that teach practical skills like manicures and pedicures, and guide young women on understanding their roles in today’s society and establishing healthy relationships. Additionally, in collaboration with the San Pedro Town Council, we recognize and award women who are champions of change, honoring their service and bravery in breaking stereotypical biases. We believe that\u00a0when women are empowered, families and generations ar<\/span>e empowered as well, creating a lasting impact on our community.<\/span><\/div>
