1. How many children can you accommodate living at Hope Haven, and what ages?
    We are licensed for 15 children ranging in ages from 3 to 13 years old.
  2. Are you a co-ed (Boys and Girls) Home?
    Yes.
  3. How long have you been in operation?
    Hope Haven received its license to operate as a children’s shelter in Sept 2018.
  4. Are the children orphans? Where do they come from?
    All of the children have been removed from homes in crisis by the Department of Human Services. Very few are orphans.
  5. Do you accept children other than those placed in the home by the Department of Human Services?
    No. The mission of Hope Haven is to provide care for children that have been removed from an abusive environment by the Department of Human Services.
  6. How long can children stay at Hope Haven?
    Children will continue to be cared for by Hope Haven until they are placed in a permanent home environment or until they are 18 years of age when by law they are no longer allowed to stay in the Home.
  7. Do the children attend school?
    Yes, all children attend School unless there is extraordinary circumstance which would prevent them from attendance.
  8. Are your children adoptable?
    All questions concerning adoption of children in Belize should be directed to the Department of Human Services.
  9. Do you take children with severe behavioral problems?
    Hope Haven is not staffed or equipped to care for children with advanced behavioral problems.
  10. Do you have a Volunteer Program?
    Absolutely! There are many ways to volunteer at Hope Haven.
  11. Do the children attend church?
    The children attend Sunday services.
